Gregory Alan Phipps, lektor í enskum bókmenntum við Mála- og menningardeild Háskóla Íslands, heldur fyrirlesturinn Be-loved: Toni Morrison and the Redemptive Possibilities of Love.

Ágrip:

Does love heal all wounds? Toni Morrison’s 1987 novel Beloved explores this question from multiple perspectives, representing how different examples of love confront trauma, despair, and state-sanctioned atrocities. Spotlighting the ruinous impact of slavery on specific individuals and the American nation as a whole, Beloved captures not only the versatility but also the occasional inadequacy of love as a healing force. This paper considers how Morrison’s novel frames the diverse interrelationship between love and trauma.
