Fyrirlesturinn nefnist: The archaeology of an operational chain: connecting sheep, farmers, earmarks and sorting folds og er hluti af fyrirlestraröð rannsóknanema í fornleifafræði. Fyrirlesturinn er öllum opinn.
Um fyrirlesturinn:
This paper discusses the movements and practices associated with the grazing, gathering and sorting of sheep in Skútustaðarhreppur, north-east Iceland. The focus will interweave archaeology and history from a landscape-scale, within the chronological frame of the mi19th to early-20th century. The intention will be to examine the outcomes of these movements, linked with varying operational stages along a chain or virtual line that connects at least two objects: the earmark and the sorting fold. The paper will offer a substantive account of a practice from its material histories, but one rendered through its operational chain and the mobilities that this implies.
