Fimmtudaginn 9. september mun fara fram mat á rannsóknaráætlun Meyvants Þórólfssonar doktorsnema við Menntavísindasvið. Heiti áætlunarinnar er Transformation of the science curriculum in Iceland.

Matið er í tvennu lagi; fyrst kynnir Meyvant rannsóknaráætlun sína í stofu E301 kl. 13-14 og er sú kynning opin nemum í framhaldsnámi og akademískum starfsmönnum Menntavísindasviðs. Síðan er fundur þar sem matsnefnd fær tækifæri til að ræða rannsóknaráætlunina við Meyvant. Fundurinn er öðrum lokaður. Kynningin og fundurinn fara fram á ensku. 

Tilgangur matsins er tvíþættur eins og fram kemur í Reglum um doktorsnám við Menntavísindasvið: Að meta hæfni doktorsnemans til að framkvæma rannsóknaráætlunina og að veita endurgjöf svo að áætlunin verði svo góð sem verða má. 

Matsnefndin samanstendur af leiðbeinendum Meyvants  dr. Gunnari E. Finnbogasyni og dr. Allyson Macdonald, prófessorum við Háskóla Íslands, Menntavísindasvið; tveimur utanaðkomandi prófdómurum dr. Lofti Guttormssyni prófessor við Háskóla Íslands, Menntavísindasvið  og dr. Rúnari Sigþórssyni, prófessor við Háskólann á Akureyri.  Dr. Gretar L. Marinósson, prófessor formaður matsnefndar, stýrir athöfninni og Sólrún B. Kristinsdóttir er ritari.

An evaluation of a doctoral proposal at the School of Education

The evaluation of Meyvant Þórólfsson‘s doctoral proposal will taka place September 9th at University of Iceland, School of Education, Stakkahlíð. The title of the proposal: Transformation of the science curriculum in Iceland.

The evaluation will be in two parts: First the doctoral student‘s  presentation of his proposal in room E301 at 13-14. The presentation is open to postgraduate students and academic staff of the School of Education. Secondly an evaluation meeting for a discussion of the proposal.  The meeting is open only to the doctoral student and the Evaluation Committee. The language of the presentation and the meeting will be English. 

The purpose of the evaluation is twofold, as the rules of the Doctoral School indicate: To evaluate the doctoral student‘s competence in conducting the proposed doctoral research project and to provide her with feedback to do this as well as may be. 

The evaluation committee consist of Meyvant‘s  supervisors dr. Gunnar E. Finnbogason and dr. Allyson Macdonald, professors at the University of Iceland, School of Education, two external examiners: dr. Loftur Guttormsson, professor at the University of Iceland, School of Education  and dr. Rúnar Sigþórsson, professor at the University of Akureyri, Iceland. Chairman of the evaluation committee dr. Gretar L. Marinósson professor directs the proceedings and Sólrún B. Kristinsdóttir is secretary.
