The Chanson de Geste and the figures of French medieval epic’s imagination
The literary genre of the chanson de geste is one of the most ancient and most popular in French medieval literature, from the 11th to the 16th century. It allows us a privileged point of view about the medieval epic heroe, his place in the contemporary society and the imaginarium he belongs to.
Gabrielle Lafitte, Junior Assistant in the French Department of Seville University, Spain.
Teaching French literature and language, she has been researching mainly in Medieval Literature and specially epics, around the notion of heroism in European medieval literatures and on the animal figures in French epics.
