The Resurgence of Tradition in Contemporary China: Confucianism, Daoism and China's Quest for a Sustainable Future Over the past thirty years of reform, China has experienced staggering economic growth and equally staggering ecological devastation. Dissatisfied with the Western economic and political models that they had adopted, China's intellectuals are now reconsidering the place of the traditional value systems such Confucianism and Daoism. This talk considers the ways that Chinese traditions can help China, and the world, transition to an ecologically sustainable future.
