The President of the EFTA Court and Professor Carl Baudenbacher from the University St. Gallen (Switzerland) will be offering a Magister class open for all students of the University as well as other law professionals and the general public on the 23rd October 2009.
Professor Baudenbacher has been nominated Visiting Professor of the Law Faculty of this University. His main field of interest and research are justice, jurisprudence, economic and business law, globalisation and regionalisation. A recent book in his honor published by Nomos, Baden-Baden in 2007 has the title „Economic law and justice in times of globalisation". In recent years he has put an special focus on issues related to the proliferation of international courts and the judicial dialogue between these courts.
The conference to be given at this University is entitled „The EFTA Court in Action" and it will focus on the contribution from the EFTA Court to the construction of the European Economic Area. The lecture will be given in English.
In this conference he will reflect how the EFTA Court has pursued the goal of securing a homogeneous development of the case law of the Community courts and the EFTA Court. The law of the EEA is essential European single market and competition law but the EFTA Court President tends to look at the functions of that law and to interpret the EEA rules in light of these functions. He will offer his insight on the recent trends and challenges of the EEA legal order.
Professor and Judge Baudenbacher is one of the leading specialists in European Economic Area Law. His lectures are always incredibly entartaining and students report how his classes are one of the higlights of their academic education.
